Testing Results – Proof you are buying real raw honey
At Elixir, we produce honey that is better than the organic standards. Products that have been certified as organic are not guaranteed to be pesticide and chemical free as organic certification of food is certifying a process without putting any focus on whether the food consumers will eat is actually free from chemicals, such as pesticides, herbicides and antibiotics. We believe that in order to provide consumers with a high-quality product there should be a greater level of honesty and transparency about whether the product you are buying is free of chemicals, additives, herbicides (eg. glyphosate) and pesticides. Our approach is to focus on investing in a regular testing regime of the honey we produce through our Proof of Pure commitment. These tests show that our products are free of these chemicals and additives. Every batch of honey that we test, we publish on our website. These tests include the following;

Our Beekeeping Philosophy- Bringing you the purest wild honey
For millennia honey has been a treasured and regarded as a highly prized creation. The link between humans and bees goes back thousands of years. Our early hunter and gathering ancestors relied on honey for essential nutrition and medicinal use. We love our bees, and their health and wellbeing are the focus of everything we do. We follow principles of natural beekeeping in which we put the health of our hives above maximising the honey harvest. We only harvest from our bees when there is a genuine surplus supply of honey. This means we ensure there is abundant honey remaining for the bees. We focus on our hives optimal nutrition by allowing our bees to slowly forage on a wide variety of wild pollens so they can obtain all the necessary essential amino acids and trace elements required for good health. The result of healthy hives is honey with better medicinal qualities, and better flavour profiles unique to the bioregional areas our bees are foraging in. We do not use any chemicals in any aspect of our beekeeping. Our process remains entirely chemical, antibiotic, herbicide, and pesticide free. Our regular testing results speak for themselves. We do not allow our bees to forage near farming land where they may be exposed to agricultural chemicals such as fungicides, glyphosate and insecticides. Our careful, sustainable, and holistic bee husbandry practices never place our hives under stress. We harvest what we call “Slow Honey”. Slow Honey is where we leave the honey on the bees for longer than industry standards which means our bees take the time needed to properly mature their honey in the frames. From our experience, honey treated this way has: 1. very low moisture content. 2. higher pollen and propolis content. 3. superior flavour, body, and aromas. |
