Pollination is the key thing that bees do for our Planet Earth. Bees are crucial to our food supply, as they pollinate much of the fruit, veggies, flower and nut crops of our developed world. Bees collect pollen & nectar from flowers. The pollen is used as a protein source (for bees and humans - bee pollen is awesome and we sell it in our shop) & the nectar is an energy source. Some of the pollen brushes off the little bee and lands on the pistils of the flower and cross-pollination happens. Bees contribute +$2 billion to Australia's food crops via pollination and about $US30-90 billion pa. (The Australian 15-16 Sep 2007)
