I am so lucky not to have a job in which I am terminally busy. This means I have time to hang the washing out, have a nanna nap or read my book in the middle of the day when I'm feeling like I need a bit of restoration. As Glenn the beekeeper pointed out to me - I don't need to look busy. This life changing insight as helped me say 'no' to a lot of things lately. And it's liberating. I'm learning finally to look at all the jobs on my list that are there because I 'think I should do them' and decide if they really worthy of my time. An example of this would be converting from MYOB to Intuit. MYOB irked me and Intuit answers the phone when you need help and seems to run much better reports. But this changeover could take +80 hours and really is it worth my life? The decision was a relief filled 'no'.
