6 Seasons


The flowering seasons are best captured by the 6 seasons identified by the Nyoongar people of Perth, Western Australia. The seasons are:

 

 

Birak Dec-Jan First summer - getting warmer.
Bunuru Feb-Mar Second summer. Larger shrubs blossom. This includes wattles, banksia and grevilleas.
Djeran April - May The smaller tall trees flower.
Makuru June - July Winter season. Most of the tall trees blossom including the Eucalypts
Djilba Aug - Sep Second Rains. The tall trees lose their blooms.
Kambarang Oct - Nov Wildflower season.
