WA Honey
Where our honey comes from

Western Australia (WA) enjoys the reputation of being an enormous state within Australia. In addition to being huge, we have a tiny population; only 10% of Australians live in WA (1.8m). WA is separated from the rest of Australia by vast desert and from the rest of the world by the Indian Ocean. In this seclusion our bees spend the long sunny days feasting on nectar from Western Australian bush blossoms.

West Australian blossoms

WA native bush includes jarrah, red gum, wandoo, flooded gum, banksia, grevillea, hakea and wildflower.  Bees flock to this flora and make a distinctive and delicious honey from them.

Why you can't get all our flavours year round

Trees blossom at different time and some don't blossom every year. Also we extract small quantities and so do not have all honeys in stock year around. This way you get to taste what is in season.

Jarrah honey

Jarrah trees flower every two years (2008, 2010…). The buds appear on the trees a year before they go into blossom! Jarrah honey is highly prized for its medicinal qualities and it tastes good too. Jarrah honey has a high fructose and low glucose level (naturally occurring in the jarrah flower) and so jarrah honey takes ages to set (5-10 years). Jarrah honey is not always dark; its colour depends on what land the trees are growing on. Whatever the colour, Jarrah should always have the same distinctive jarrah honey taste.
